Observation

0186 (1) Licensor observed that a child with a known tree nut allergy did not have an Individual Care Plan (ICP) in place for the allergy. A Medication Authorization form was on file, authorizing the use of an EpiPen as needed. Licensor also observed an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) on file, which included diagnoses of both ADHD and a food allergy on a single form. This raises concerns, as combining conditions may lead to confusion and the potential for incorrect response—such as administering an EpiPen for an ADHD-related issue. Licensor recommended that separate Individual Care Plans be created for each condition to ensure clarity and appropriate response. Licensor emphasized the importance of having the food allergy ICP completed and signed by the child’s physician to ensure accurate guidance in the event of a medical emergency.
