Observation

The provider self-reported a parent concern regarding a interaction between a child and teacher. The teacher's body was positioned over the child and in such a way that limited the child's movement. Use of her body to manage the child's behavior was not an allowable discipline technique as it restricted movement and was intimidating. Once notified of the concern, the provider removed the staff from the facility and contacted the licensor. The staff member is no longer employed at the facility. Classroom staff were able to describe discipline techniques that are used with the children. These techniques included using Conscious Discipline, calming themselves before addressing behavior, and asking for additional support. During the site inspection, staff were observed engaging in kind and responsive interactions with the children. This information was gathered during the site inspection and staff interviews.
